Even after this years Summer Eights and Henley highs Balliol’s Tobias Witting couldn’t let go and has kept training. Switching to sculling wasn’t easy as he learnt how to row in a sweep boat and kept going in cirles for quite a while. Practising the whole summer made hungry for a bit of racing. After a good sleep-in on Saturday and missing the 1000m races, he got up on Sunday for the 500m sprint knockout competition. Attaching to the start in the single was quite a tipsy experience and the first race was just won by 3 feet. But confidence grew from race to race and Tobi finished the final with a lead of 3 and 3/4 of a length.
